Jeimer Candelario is a professional baseball third baseman for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in New York City, but grew up in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. His father, Rogelio Candelario, was a farmhand in the Houston Astros system, and gave Jeimer his passion for the game.
Candelario signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 2016. He made his MLB debut in 2016, and spent the next four seasons with the Cubs. In 2021, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers.
Candelario is a switch-hitter, and is known for his power and patience at the plate. He has a career batting average of .273, with 132 home runs and 418 RBIs.
